into the light

Do you remember the TV show In Search Of? Narrated by  Leonard Nimoy, the program investigated the unknown — unsolved murder cases, mythical creatures and the paranormal. It was one of the many creepy shows that I loved as a kid. After looking at these photos I took on Black Friday, In Search Of popped into my mind because we were in search of the rumored cemetery of Dixmont, hidden in the woods overlooking Route 65. We didn’t find it,  but the sun set was so beautiful, I made Bill pull over so I could take pictures.  Jeff said they reminded him of what November feels like — early darkness, the coming of winter, endings.

Wonderful wild woodsy photos, the dancing backlit figure reminiscent of solstice ceremony, the trees leaning in to each other… haunting November twilight feeling.

I had not thought of In Search of in years! I loved that cheesy, and slightly creepy show. And I love the encroaching darkness in late fall. It also has a creepy feel…
